Fado

Fado is a typical Portuguese musical style. It is usually interpreted by a vocalist (fado singer) accompanied by a classical guitar (the viola) and a Portuguese guitar. Its origins are diffuse and date back to the age of the discoveries, however the way we currently know has acquired contours in the NINETEENTH century. The word Fado means destiny, Sina, and its central theme is Saudade, Nostalgia, love and its charms and disenchantments. It is the Portuguese soul materialized. Fado is recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural heritage of humanity.
