Inaugurated in 1959, the National Sanctuary of Cristo Rei is a tribute to Peace and an expression of gratitude for Portugal not being involved in World War II. It is an impressive monument 110 meters high, inspired by the Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) of Rio de Janeiro. It will always be a sign of gratitude for the gift of Peace. It´s viewpoint is one of the most spectacular panoramic views of Lisbon.
The Arrábida Natural Park is a biogenetic reserve located in the peninsula of Setúbal. It is one of the most breathtaking landscapes in Portugal, with its unique fauna and flora and the magnificent view over Troia. Visit the beach of Portinho da Arrábida, the beauty of the Sado Estuary and the freshness of the Atlantic.
Setúbal is a beautiful fishing town, located between the Sado River and the Atlantic Ocean. Its waters are the natural habitat of the ruazes (dolphins). Surrender to the beauty of the Sado Estuary and delight in local gastronomy and traditional Moscatel liqueur.
Palmela Castle dates back to the Muslim occupation (8th century) and was reconquered by D. Afonso Henriques in 1147. From inside its walls you can contemplate an unforgettable view of the region of Palmela.
Azeitão owes its name to the extensive olive groves that once covered its region. Nowadays, it is famous for the Caves Vínicas (Wine Cellars) and the traditional Tortas de Azeitão.
